Pros

  • The tone of voice that's used during the reading can be altered.
  • The document that is being read can be read in a variety of different voices. The user can select their voice of preference from a few choices.
  • It doesn't matter how low the document that's being read is. This app can read documents of any length.

Cons

  • Although there are some different options available for the voice, that being said all the voices do have a bit of a robotic sound.

TTSReader is a converter app that is able to change a text file to an audio file that will include a voice reading out the text. This app makes it easier for users to hear any document or message read out loud so that they don't have to do the reading themselves.

This text-to-speech program will not only have the documents read aloud, but it will then create a sound file of the voice reading the text. The sound file that is produced can be an MP3 file or a WAV file.

There is a lot of simplicity to the interface here. This makes it very straightforward to determine how the app is used. It's possible to direct the app to do a variety of different things in addition to simply reading the text. The app is also able to skip over certain parts of the text documents during readings. Another adjustment that can be made to the way the text is read is the volume can be adjusted so that the voice will speak loudly or softly depending on the users preferences.

While there had been certain bugs in the program previously, many of those bugs have fortunately been fixed. For example, there was an addition of a Floating toolbar that corrected some bugs that where there previously that made the app less effective for being used. Bugs were also fixed through the addition of the hotkey Tray icon.

This app was made by Sphenet, and it is fortunately entirely free to use. Currently, the version available is the 1.30 version. The program runs in English.
